I spent a week on a small island sixteen miles out to sea from the North Devon coast.
I stayed in the “radio room”, a small cosy hub where I sheltered from the intense winds sweeping the almost treeless island. I managed to work outside and develop a series of drawings on layers of lens tissue using water soluble crayons. I was fascinated by the effect the intense wind had on the sea and the different surf patterns. The weather was so unpredictable that no boat or helicopter could come anywhere near Lundy for a couple of days, and my stay was extended.
